Welcome to our 58th annual Gymnastics Association of Texas Conference.   Look around, as we have attendees from not only Texas but from Louisiana, Colorado, Utah, Oklahoma and California.  Take time to introduce yourself to your fellow coaches that you may not know.  Afterall, that is how GAT started all those years ago....it was a GAThering of like-minded gymnastics educators.

Please take the time to create your own unique schedule of sessions you are wanting to attend this weekend. This is also the best way to get the most up to date schedule should things change or should announcements need to be sent out to our attendees.

We are thrilled to announce our exclusive equipment partnership with SPIETH America, bringing together our expertise to elevate gymnastics education and training. This collaboration marks a historic milestone for both organizations as we join esteemed industry partners. As the Gymnastics Association of Texas (GAT), known for our comprehensive gymnastics education programs, we will now have access to SPIETH America’s cutting-edge equipment and educational resources, including sessions on Parkour and NCAA Acro and Tumbling. Together, we are dedicated to fostering growth, innovation, and safety within the gymnastics community.

If you have any questions about anything during the weekend, don’t hesitate to see one of us at the downstairs registration desk. Let us know what you like or areas where we can improve our service to you.

A lot of planning has gone into this conference, so we hope you have a wonderful weekend of great gymnastics education!

Gross Motor Development in PS classes
Saturday August 31, 2024 8:30am - 9:30am CDT

This lecture will discuss five main gross motor concepts - balance, bilateral coordination, crossing the midline, core strength, and proprioception.  We’ll define these concepts, learn how we can apply them to preschool gymnastics, show applicable stations, and discuss how to communicate their importance and application to parents.

Everyone hears these terms tossed around - My goal is that you leave my presentation knowing what they mean, why they are important, and how to utilize them in their classes.

Power of 3: Beginner Rec Progressions
Saturday August 31, 2024 1:30pm - 2:30pm CDT
Let’s teach basics! This lecture highlights the idea that every coach should know at least three progressions for every skill. It focuses on knowing the beginner and advanced progressions for preschool and beginner/intermediate gymnastics skills. Additionally, I will go over ways to troubleshoot some of the most common problems coaches run into – not shifting hands on a pullover, landing on the wrong foot in a cartwheel, etc.
Attendees will leave being better equipped to tailor stations to meet the needs of the gymnasts in their classes on a more individual level.

Take your classes from average to awesome!
Saturday August 31, 2024 2:45pm - 3:45pm CDT

Let’s discuss all the smaller parts of class outside of teaching gymnastics: warm-up, moving around the gym, explaining stations, class management.  How do we make these average, everyday aspects of class AWESOME?

Find the magic and lets take ourselves a little less seriously while realizing how amazing and important your job as rec coaches is.  Come ready to share your ideas, bits, and class rituals.  Leave with new ideas to keep your kids having fun and engaged in class.

PS Vault Stations
Sunday September 1, 2024 11:00am - 12:00pm CDT

Vault basics are tricky.  They require coordination, weight transfer, balance, and power.  This lecture will break down vault basics with stations that can be accomplished with equipment most gyms have on hand.

Attendees will leave feeling more confident teaching vault to their preschool and beginner gymnasts, and return to the gym with knowledge and stations that can be immediately applied to their programs.
